Worship Service - Music
Scripture is full of references to worship. Over and over throughout the Bible, men proclaim that it is good to give thanks to the Lord. In modern language, Psalm 30:12 says, “I'm about to burst with song; I can't keep quiet about you. GOD, my God, I can't thank you enough.
Our worship service is designed to do one main thing: magnify the worth of our Savior. During the musical portion of Sunday morning, we strive to underscore the truth of God’s greatness through the music and songs we sing. Our role is to help the congregation sing with reckless abandon, not worrying about what we think of our own voices, what other people think about us, or anything other than how great is our God!
As a worship team, our goal is to use our gifts to help be the backing for a congregation captivated by God’s glory. While we strive to be the best we can on stage, making sure we do what we do with excellence, the real performing group is the congregation, and we’re just there to help them worship.
We hope that God changes us from the inside into people who hunger for His presence in our lives, and our corporate worship time is an outpouring of that reality. This is not going to involve a technique we employ, a program we run, or a piece of equipment we buy, but rather an intentional gaze through the medium of our music at the God who made us and saves us. It is amazing that, when we do that, many of our hang-ups disappear in the light of God’s presence.
We are always looking for people who are truly gifted and called to this kind of ministry, so if you’re interested, please pray about it and consider the 2 items below. Bear in mind that worship leading is not a ministry for everyone, and we do evaluate in terms of ability and commitment level, and here is why:
1. We believe that all of us are designed to worship and sing to God, but not everyone is designed to help lead others from the front of the congregation. We look for giftedness in these areas.
2. We believe that leading others is a responsibility we should take seriously, so the ability to commit to rehearsals is important. It should often take precedence over other activities if conflicts arise. We realize not everyone can make that commitment and not everyone will be able to help lead.
We’re always looking for gifted people to serve in various areas in the music and tech ministry, including singing, playing, running slides, and recording the service. If you’re one of them and have a desire to serve in this capacity, please contact Micah Skipper and we can start the process.
