THE BOOK OF EXODUS: Breaking Free

The liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian bondage provides not only a wonderful story of God's power and care for his people, but, as scholar F.F. Bruce notes, "The exodus provides for the rest of the biblical record a form of language and imagery for communicating the message of salvation."  This event profoundly influenced Israel and it became one of the most important patterns in the Bible for understanding who Israel was, what was happening in their history and what would happen through Jesus.  Each week, Pastor Bob relates the ancient, yet ever modern, Word of God to our lives, and the unfolding mission of the church.

SERENDIPITY: Finding Better than You were Looking For

Have You Ever Stumbled Upon Gifts You were not looking for?  This Series Explores the Biblical Theme that God is always Far, Far, Superior and Surpassing our Wildest Dreams and our Idiotic but Relentless Attempts to Find Satisfaction in Something Other that God Himself.   Living in the Wonder and Sensation of This is of Great Spiritual Value.   And it is necessary for your Joy and Your Stability.

Prepare to Meet Your God

Sometimes we need consolation, and other times we need to be jolted awake.  Amos is one of those “jolting” portions of scripture. Amos made his living cutting open sycamore figs to get them to ripen. His words are designed to cut us open so that we come to maturity. We must be hit by the Word, cut by the Holy Spirit to mature in Christ.  Amos confronts compromise that threatens our usefulness to God, both as individuals, and as a community. Amos’ preaching targets how the church can get so screwed up that it makes the brokenness of the world worse instead of healing it. When that happens, God will bring judgment first on His Church.  Amos tells us what breaks God’s heart, both in the nations of the world, and in His church. Amos puts us on notice that the love and the anger of God are more forceful and furious than we can ever imagine.

Afflicted, Addicted and Conflicted

Anger, depression, rebellion, unbelief, lying and pride.  Modern problems as old as humankind itself.  The biblical portrait of its great heroes is painstakingly honest, warts and all.  As we look at them, we see ourselves.  The benefit of being more honest withourselves and more aware of our screw-ups is that it makes us more aware of our need for Jesus and more aware of his amazing grace given to us!

Marriage as God Intended It

Marriages that started with intimate friendship and romantic passion go sour for three reasons. First of all, God's blueprint for marriage is not understood and embraced. Husbands and wives set their marriages up for failure by ignoring God's design. Secondly, marriages fail to recognize that we are hardwired for selfishness because of the fall. Therefore, the battle for maintaining marriage is often not even joined. Thirdly, the resources God has given for making your spouse your most intimate friend and lover are not accessed. Recognizing God's design, how we got messed up, and how to be restored through Jesus Christ, are the necessary truths behind a marriage that functions as God intended.

Prepare The Way

The 40th chapter of Isaiah is the exact word God spoke to help prepare His people to meet their Messiah. Pray that as I preach from this God-breathed text, we will welcome Christ more deeply into our lives. This would be a great time to invite a freind to come and worship with you. [ Listen Now ]

Called To Contend

A four week preaching series on Jude is titled “Called to Contend”. Jude was a half brother of Jesus, and his letter is next to last in the New Testament, and perhaps one of the least known books of the New Testament.  [ Listen Now ]
